Skill: A novice can use these plans to make a durable, safe, attractive train table. Pay close attention to the instructions, measure twice, cut once. With moderate level of knowledge, and the right tools, these plans can be used to build a professional looking activity table with minimum effort.
Tools: At a minimum you will need a hand saw, drill w/5/16" bit, Phillips screw driver, measuring tape, (2) wood clamps, & wood glue. For best results a Miter Saw comes in very handy.
Cost: Approx. $30 for the wood and hardware if you decide to use Pine, up to $70 for wood and hardware if you choose a hardwood such a Oak.
Time: Approx. 6 hrs. total for a novice. Includes approx. 1 hour at the home improvement store, (1) hour to cut wood, (1/2) to drill holes, (1) hour for sanding, (1/2) hour to put together pieces, (2) hours for painting or staining, (10) minutes for final assembly.
